Margaret Ann Farr is proud to call the South Side of Chicago her home! Growing up in a Family with 8 children, she knows the importance of a good education! She is excited to have the opportunity to make a difference as both a Music Instructor and Teacher Leader at Hancock College Prep. She juggles her time between being a Department Chair, ILT member, Music teacher and co-chair of the City-wide International Science and Engineering Fair Committee.
Margaret obtained her B.S. at The University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana with a Music Education degree with a concentration of Voice. Since she is both an instrumentalist (tuba and euphonium) and vocalist, she made time to join the ranks of the Marching Illini and Basketball bands while studying at C/U. She even met her husband in the band- thus proving that Music brings people together! In addition to her degree in Music, Margaret holds both a Type 75 degree from Concordia University and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Governors State University. Her teaching philosophy is that Music is for everyone, and should be accessible to everyone. Her hope is that through the beauty and excitement of Music, she can spark her students to create meaningful compositions and performances that showcase student creativity, growth and self-discovery.
