Cristen Chapman is entering her 28th year of teaching and her 9th year at Hancock College Prep. She teaches Sociology, AP U.S. Government and Politics, and AP U.S. History. She also coaches the poetry team. She works with Mikva Challenge to enliven student voice and encourage students to see themselves as agents of change in society and the world.
Ms. Chapman is from Rockford, Illinois. She received her B.A. from Earlham College, her M.S. in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University, and her M.A. in U.S. History from Gettysburg College. She has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2010 and received the James Madison Graduate Fellowship in 2022.
In addition to teaching, she enjoys reading, sewing, playing ukulele, traveling, and fighting for social justice.
