Ms. Baranoff grew up in Indianapolis and was a student at Broad Ripple High School as part of the Humanities and Performing Arts magnet programs. In 1999 she moved to Ohio, where she attended the College of Wooster and graduated in 2003 with a B.A. in Theater. She enrolled in the M.Ed. program at UIC in 2003, and received her degree in Instructional Leadership in 2005. Since then she has been teaching in CPS; the 2024-2025 school year marks Ms. Baranoff's 19th year at JHCP. In 2012, Ms. Baranoff became a National Board Certified Teacher. Ms. Baranoff has taught 9th - 12th grade English, as well as several electives, and she is particularly passionate about teaching Drama and AP Capstone. This year Ms. Baranoff teaches AP Research, Theater Production, two sections of Drama I, and a combined section of Drama II, III, and IV inclusion course which also supports students in our special education cluster program. In addition, Ms. Baranoff partners with many professional organizations to provide additional educational opportunities for her students. Some of those partnerships include the Student Matinee Series at Goodman Theatre, the Young Playwrights Festival at Pegasus Theatre, and the Chicago Shakespeare Slam at Chicago Shakespeare Theater.
